Today’s Mindbender is indeed about changing. Some people have no problem with change. For others, it can be difficult.
Speaking of which: I’ll have some news about a change to the Mindbender that’ll be coming soon.
I think you’ll want to hear/see it. Should be sometime before the end of this month, so it would be a good idea to not skip any of these mailers for the next couple of weeks.
Although I’m going on a vacation trip with my son next week, so the MB will be on a break, too. That, however, is NOT the news. 😀 Stay tuned.
Let's get on with the countdown.
Along with today's Mindbender you get these bonus stories:
Sleep mistakes
When life “gets real”
The teenage mayor
But first, today's Mindbender:
Fifty-seven percent of people have not changed this in the last five years.
Jeremy guessed "their furnace filter,” and Josh said, “their fridge water filter.”
I'll have a clue coming up.
Sleep mistakes
If you’re one of the millions of people with horrible sleep issues, the experts have an answer:
It’s mostly your own fault.
Sleep specialists compiled a list of the ten mistakes people make when trying to get some sleep. They include the usual suspects, like too much screen time, especially too close to bedtime. But also:
- Eating too much OR too little before bed
- Keeping an inconsistent sleep schedule
- Napping too much
If you’d like to focus your bloodshot eyes on the full list, it’s right here.
When life “gets real”
There was a time when people became adults at age 18. Today, even 18-year-olds admit they haven’t arrived yet.
A study of multiple generations, from Boomers down to Z, found that life doesn’t start to get real until you’re 27.
At that point, you’re likely to be paying all your own bills and putting responsibilities over fun. You know, you’re finally doing your own laundry.
More than 42% of people across all generations say that being an adult was way harder than they expected it to be.
And 71% believe it’s harder today than it was even ten years ago.
Perhaps an argument against coddling? Just a thought. Let’s move on.
Here's a clue for the Mindbender:
I promise you that you no longer need to explain about “the beep.” We all get it.
The teenage mayor
On the heels of that “adulting” story, let’s talk about the teenage mayor.
Two years ago, the town of Edgewater, Florida elected a 17-year-old to be their mayor. No joke.
Now he’s 19—and acting like 19-year-old boys do.
There’s a video going viral showing Mr. Mayor at a bar, possibly doing some underage drinking, making slurs, and acting inappropriately.
A news station reached out to the young man, who is the youngest elected official in Florida’s history. But the station received no reply.
And now, the answer to today's Mindbender:
What have they not changed in the last five years?
Their outgoing voicemail message.
This is funny to me, because just last week I finally changed mine after at least fifteen years.
Some people who know me say it was jarring to them to hear something different. Ha!
That'll do it for today's Mindbender. Thank you for being part of The Club.
Enjoy your day!
