Happy National Cheese Day.
I’m no cheesemonger—that’s a real title, by the way—but I like to think I can enjoy a wide selection.
But not all. If it’s blue cheese, you can have mine.
The other day I discovered jalapeño gouda, which was life-changing.
Let's get on with the countdown.
Along with today's Mindbender you get these bonus stories:
Ah, high school
Nostalgic sounds
Message in a bottle
But first, today's Mindbender:
What do you most regret posting on social media? Six percent of people said (blank).
I'll have a clue coming up.
Ah, high school
If you could go back and do high school all over again, would you?
Surprisingly, more than half of people say YES, while 40% say nope, once was enough.
A poll sought the most common high school experiences that we all experienced, and at the top of the list was having a crush on someone.
Suzanne Barbee never even knew I was alive.
Other common experiences included cliques, going to high school football games, and (this is hilarious) lying to parents.
Did you actually like high school? Nearly half of people said yes, while only 8% completely hated it.
Put me in the camp that really enjoyed it.
Nostalgic sounds

Speaking of going back:
A Reddit thread asked: “What’s a sound from your childhood that younger generations will never hear?”
People named things like:
- A cassette rewinding faster and faster until it gets to that thump
- The cha-chunk of a manual credit card machine thing
- Dot matrix printers
Of course, I love that some people mentioned Casey Kasem. That dude was part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Google him, kids.
See the full thread here.
Here's a clue for the Mindbender:
I always live vicariously through someone’s dessert.
Message in a bottle
Don’t you love stories of a message in a bottle, washing up on shore?
A kid in Florida found one of those, and it allegedly was tossed into the ocean by two kids in Hawaii seven years ago.
This 11-year-old girl was vacationing in the Sunshine State with her family when she spotted the bottle.
Inside was a note from a 13-year-old and an 8-year-old from Hawaii, dated August 17th, 2018.
If it’s for real, that bottle went a LONG way. It would’ve had to make its way around the southern tip of South America, over to Africa, then back up and across the Atlantic Ocean.
Some experts are skeptical. But if it DID happen, that’s pretty cool.
And now, the answer to today's Mindbender:
What do they regret posting on social media?
Pictures of food.
I’m certainly guilty. And I’ve texted a ton of those to people.
There must be some psychological reason behind this. Maybe we’re just bored.
That'll do it for today's Mindbender. Thank you for being part of The Club.
Enjoy your day!
