The Mindbender at home
April 10, 2026
My latest TV recommendation is a documentary that lasts nearly two hours—and it’s riveting the entire time.
“The Rescue” is the story of the incredible 2018 rescue of the young Thai soccer team and their coach, trapped in a cave system that was rapidly flooding.
I remember when it happened, but I had no idea just how dramatic and remarkable the rescue operation became. This 18-day ordeal truly defines real heroism.
It’s on Disney+, but perhaps available elsewhere. Here’s where you can watch the trailer.
Get comfy on your couch and prepare to be amazed.
TODAY’S MINDBENDER
Eleven percent of people prefer to do this at home, 81% prefer to do it away from home, and 8% say they never do it.
I'll have a clue coming up.
A three-year degree

The cost of a college education has outpaced inflation for many years—not to mention the shrinking value of a degree.
Some colleges are so worried about falling enrollment rates that they’re trying a new approach.
They’re offering degrees in just three years instead of the traditional four.
Sure, there have been accelerated degrees in the past, but that usually meant cramming four years worth of credits into fewer semesters. These, however, are degrees that simply require fewer credits.
These shorter tracks are distinguished from the four-year variety by being labeled “applied” or “career-focused” degrees. Which means an employer will know. How much they’ll actually care is another question.
As usual, there are some who applaud this move while others criticize it. Imagine that.
Detractors say it will reduce critical-thinking skills, but here’s a news flash for them: the erosion of critical-thinking skills began a long time ago.

Sabotaging AI
A recent survey showed 46% of registered voters have a “negative view” of AI in the workplace.
Meanwhile, more and more companies are finding ways to implement the technology within—and sometimes by replacing—their workforce. Which would explain the negative view.
Now some employees, especially Gen Z’ers, are pushing back by actually sabotaging the AI systems in their office.
I guess that’s one way to put off the inevitable.
If there’s irony in this, it’s that research shows employees who embrace AI are more likely to receive promotions and raises, compared to those who shun it.
I hate to get into a moral or ethical debate about it, but it is a fascinating story, which you can read here.
Your Clue For The Mindbender:
Some people buy subscriptions/memberships so they can do it often.
I’ll have the answer coming up.
Our favorite brother-sister duos

Spoiler! Luke and Leia were siblings!
Since today (April 10th) is National Siblings Day, someone posted a list of the 35 best brother-sister pairings in movie and television history.
You’ll find the “Star Wars” sibs, along with:
- Ross and Monica from “Friends”
- Ron and Ginny from “Harry Potter”
- Bart and Lisa from “The Simpsons”
I must admit, I haven’t heard of several of the entries on the list. But the abominable sibs from “Succession” are on there, so that’s good.
Sadly, Penny, Will, and Judy from “Lost in Space” did not make the cut. Scandalous!
I’m the baby of six, so a shout-out to my wonderful sibs for tolerating me all these years.
The Answer For Today’s Mindbender

What is it that some people do at home, but most do elsewhere?
Wash their car.
I’ve been told I’m a big weirdo because I rarely wash my car. Maybe a couple times a year?
And yet I know people who wash their car at least once a week. Blows my mind.
That’ll do it for today. Thank you so much for being part of The Mindbender Club!
Dom
Seven years of college down the drain.

Dom, I went to "HIGH SCHOOL FOR OLDER KIDS", and lost a huge amount of respect for a couple of my "professors" as they condoned the juvenile behavior. I was working A full-time job, carrying a full class schedule, and maintained a 3.9 out of 4.0 GPA. Sorry, irritational memories.
