The Mindbender and the Mindbender Club mailer will be on vacation after today.
Everything returns to normal on Monday, July 7th.
If you’re a paid subscriber—first, thank you!—you’ll receive your bonus Saturday mailer this weekend.
FYI, speaking of the wonderful Patrons who support this effort, your Saturday mailers will also soon start including Classic Mindbenders for you to enjoy and share.
Lots of other good stuff is on the way. 🙂
Let's get on with the countdown.
Along with today's Mindbender you get these bonus stories:
Fruit that helps you sleep
Cuts, scrapes, and bruises
States for the best road trips
But first, today's Mindbender:
What activity seems to suck away your energy? Nearly 30% of people agreed this was one of the worst.
I'll have a clue coming up.
Fruit that helps you sleep
We’re a sleep-deprived nation, and most of that is our own fault.
Experts have been telling us until they’re blue in the face to SHUT DOWN THE SCREENS a couple hours before bedtime.
But if you insist on defying their advice, there’s one particular fruit that might help.
Researchers found that eating avocados each day helps to improve sleep. It also lowered the cholesterol of test subjects, which they expected.
But the sleep findings were a surprise. They think it might just be all the special nutrients contained in an avocado, which botanically is a fruit. It’s loaded with fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin K, and other good stuff.
So instead of “an apple a day,” we might need to start saying “an avocado a day.”
Cuts, scrapes, and bruises
Are you clumsy? Do you ever wonder just how often you’re cutting a finger or scraping an elbow?
A poll by one of the band-aid companies found the average adult suffers about 35 scrapes and bruises a year.
Kids, obviously, are even more prone. All together, over the course of your lifetime, you’ll get about 4,000 boo-boos.
They say most of these are because we either get distracted or we’re just generally clumsy. They added that many of these cuts are kitchen-related.
The funny postscript to this survey was that one in four people worry about other people judging them as weak if they’re wearing a band-aid.
And yet one in eight are HOPING you’ll ask about their injury.
Here's a clue for the Mindbender:
Ironically, there’s no real “activity” at all. You’re basically motionless. And that’s the problem.
States for the best road trips
They may not be for everyone, but I do love road trips. I just bought some trail mix for my upcoming adventure.
Now an annual study has released a list of the best—and the worst—states for a summer road trip.
Number one goes to Minnesota, followed by New York and Ohio.
Colorado did not make the top ten. I know, it’s weird.
The WORST state for road trippin’? They say it’s Delaware.
Nobody knows anyone from Delaware. I swear, it’s an imaginary state. 🤣
As for the cheapest state to enjoy a road trip, they say it’s Louisiana. And the safest is Idaho.
See the full results here.
And now, the answer to today's Mindbender:

What is this activity that sucks away all your energy?
Waiting in line.
It truly is a pain. Especially if there’s another line next to you that’s moving faster. THAT’S THE WORST.
That'll do it for today's Mindbender. Thank you for being part of The Club.
Enjoy your day!
