I’ve got two show recommendations for you this time.
One is a show I’ve raved about in the past, but it’s top-of-mind again because the latest season will premiere on Apple TV in about a month.
It’s called “Slow Horses,” and if you’re into snarky, gritty spy thrillers, this is one you’ll want to catch. Gary Oldman is dynamite in the lead role. There are four seasons ready for you to binge.
If you don’t subscribe to Apple TV, check out a British cop thriller series on Netflix called “Dept. Q.”
Only one season so far, but I’ll be stunned if they don’t bring it back.
Let's get on with the countdown.
Along with today's Mindbender you get these bonus stories:
How much we scroll
Exercise to sleep longer
Pay more to drive faster
But first, today's Mindbender:
Women who participate in online dating were asked, “What’s the worst greeting someone can use when they message you?”
Their top answer was this one-word greeting.
I'll have a clue coming up.
How much we scroll

Sometimes we need to frame things in a way that puts it into perspective.
Like scrolling on your phone. How does one measure that?
Well, a study converted the amount you scroll into MILES. Yes, each time you scroll they convert it into distance. And the state that scrolls the most is Arizona.
People there scroll an average of 115.4 miles per year. By the way, that works out to around nine hours of screen time per day. Wow.
I guess in Arizona there’s not much else to do when it’s 115 degrees outside.
Overall, they found the average American spends more than six and a half hours every day staring at screens, which adds up to more than 2,400 hours a year. That’s one hundred full days.
And the average person checks their phone 58 times a day. If you allow for seven hours of sleeping, that means we’re checking our phones every 17 minutes, all day long.
Exercise to sleep longer
With all that screen time blasting our eyes, is there anything we can do to help us sleep a little better?
A report says the answer could be a very light form of exercise before bed. In fact, for several hours before bed.
They found that doing simple moves like chair squats, calf raises, and standing knee lifts could make a difference. You’d have to do those every 30 minutes for four hours before bed.
In the study, people who moved around like that in the hours before bedtime slept an average of 27 minutes longer that night.
It’s not like it’s a lot of activity. Each mini-set takes about three minutes, so you’re investing only 24 minutes overall in those four hours.
And the best part is you don’t need a gym. The exercises were designed so you can do them in your living room without interrupting your favorite show. They say even walking around the house could count. As long as you’re not just sitting there like a slug.
Here's a clue for the Mindbender:
What is this, an old western?
Pay more to drive faster

Here’s a subscription plan some people can get behind.
Volkswagen just unveiled a new subscription plan for their electric cars. They’re asking people to pay a little extra to go a little faster.
Their ID 3 electric car has 228 horsepower. But if you don’t buy the subscription plan, you only get access to 201 horsepower.
The plan costs about $20 a month, and right now it’s only available in the U.K. There’s no word if or when it will come across the pond.
If you don’t wanna fork over the money every month, you can opt for a one-time fee of $880. Volkswagen says that option would keep the extra horsepower unlocked, even if you sell the car.
And now, the answer to today's Mindbender:
What do women say is the worst one-word greeting someone can use when messaging them?
Howdy.
Then you tip your five-gallon hat and mosey on down the street.
That'll do it for today's Mindbender. Thank you for being part of The Club.
Enjoy your day!
