TODAY’S MINDBENDER
80% of parents have bribed a child with (blank) to get them to do something.
I’ll have your answer coming up.
Dom’s Book Club for October
October’s here, which means I’m legally obligated to make the fiction selection a little scary.
This month I’m going with Stephen King’s Misery, one of the most unsettling novels I’ve ever read—and one that hits a little differently when you happen to be a writer.
It’s the story of novelist Paul Sheldon and Annie Wilkes, his self-proclaimed “number one fan,” who demonstrates rather convincingly that sometimes an author can have too much reader engagement. No ghosts or monsters required. Annie is terrifying enough all by herself.
If you enjoyed the movie, you’ll love the book.
For nonfiction, we’re tackling something completely different: In Search of Time: The Science of a Curious Dimension by Dan Falk. I’ve been intrigued with every chapter.
Although I’ll warn you that occasionally you may need to stop and let your brain catch up. Falk explores what time actually is, how we experience it, what Einstein taught us about it, and some wonderfully mind-bending questions about past, present, and future.
One book might keep you awake at night. The other might keep your brain awake.
Check out both October selections for Dom’s Book Club.
